FAQs
What Are Energy Attribute Certificates?
An Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) is a market-based instrument that certifies the bearer owns one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable energy source. Once 1 MWh of renewable electricity is generated and a single certificate representing the renewable attributes of that power is created, stored on a database, and tracked to help ensure any claims made against it are factual.
How Can I Use an EAC?
A company can certify it has procured electricity generated from a renewable energy source, which in turn, reduces its Scope 2 footprint by an equivalent amount (accepted by RE100, SBTi, GHGP).
